MGM Cotai -Experiential Content
-
MGM Cotai is a large-scale architectural installation featuring an array of unique LED screens (25 separate LED screens, 4-8K each) located in a public space in Macau, China.
‘Form Factor’ – is one of the themes in the MGM Cotai art program. The concept was for the architectural LED design to emulate dimensional stages for larger-than-life performances within the pre-function space. This site specific artwork was featured as part of the MGM Cotai immersive content program.
The artistic approach included a miniature 3D model of the MGM Cotai LED screen arrays built out of plexiglass. The plexiglass aquarium-style tanks were designed to house water and ink. We captured the fluid simulations in a variety of film speeds resulting in an immersive fluid simulation across the 25 discrete media surfaces. The design teams utilized the VR-Previs to spatially choreograph, and re-time footage, resulting in 60 minutes of content programming.
Obscura designed the media, software, and content program for the installation, including 260 minutes of custom content

Collaborated with Experience Design Director, Garth Williams in the build of water tanks replicating unique screen shapes, along with the custom design of pumps, fluid dynamics, and camera capture setup.
Managed all phases of digital experience design including project discovery, concept development, schematic design, design development, and onsite integration.
Led, structured, and scoped live-action shoot through post-production edit. Design teams utilized an LED template to spatially choreograph, coordinate ink colors, and re-time footage, resulting in several 10-minute “modules” of content programming.
Managed project team, comprised of creative technologists, strategists, graphic designers, and UX/Interaction designers.
Coordinated with contractors, vendors and consultants as needed.
Managed project objectives, requirements, work plans, timelines, and budgets.
Managed on-site optimization of all media including QC, client reviews, and project acceptance into service contract.
